Established in 1979, Rezia is Italy's newest alpine botanical garden.
It is situated in the northern part of Bormio, at the feet of Mount Reit, and covers an area of approximately 14,000 square meters.
More than 2,500 flora species are cultivated in four sectors. The first sector hosts over 1,300 species divided into 31 sections each according to the environment they belong to. The second sector is composed of 19 sections devoted to alpine species. Species belonging to the mountains of Europe and the rest of the world, including the Arctic and Antarctica are found here. The third sector is composed of collections of rare species divided by gender. The fourth and last sector is under construction.
