The altimetrical range between the lowest point of Stelvio National Park and the peak of Mount Ortles, together with a wide variety of microclimates give the opportunity for even very rare botanical species to find their natural habitat within the territory.
Rhododendron, gentian, primrose and arnica blooms colour the greenery while the edelweiss, the most precious flower of the whole territory ,clings to the rocks in the most panoramic of sceneries.
The Stelvio National Park is home to many examples of alpine fauna. You can view herds of deer and roe deer in the deep woods, groups of agile chamois on rock bluffs and steinbocks resting at the higher altitudes. Marmots, eagles, lammergeyers, rabbits, stoats and squirrels can also readily seen.
